Photographs selected for the final round will be exhibited at the Světozor theater from October 11th to 16th. The audience can vote for the winner from Monday (October 11) until Friday (October 15) at midnight. To vote, use the voting ballots you will get when you buy a ticket to a festival film. But you can already start thinking about who you will vote for, pictures can be viewed in the section Competition.

She asks their 6-year old son Dinu to watch his father, leading to many unusual events.

Ganashatru / An Enemy of the People

This film is an adaptation of a play by Henrik Ibsen and is set in a small town in Bengal. Dr. Ashok Gupta is the head of a town hospital. Dr. Gupta is convinced that the holy water of the temple is contaminated due to faulty pipe-laying. He believes this contamination is causing an epidemic in the town and is determined to take action. But Gupta’s concern meets with scorn, when he shares his suspicions with his brother who sits on committees that run both the hospital and a local temple.

Harishchandrachi Factory *

A Marathi gem, this film is a fictionalised and fascinating account of what led to Dadasaheb Phalke‘s making of the first ever Indian fiction film in 1913. We follow Phalke’s efforts and determination and witness the making of a film that marked the beginning of one of the world‘s biggest film industries. This directorial debut of Paresh Mokashi also won him the Best Director award at Pune International Film Festival.

Though this was Ritwik Ghatak’s first feature project, this film was only released after his death. In it, we meet Ramu, a young man looking for a job in post-Partition Kolkata. He lives in a lower-middle class neighborhood with his mother, father, and sister. Ramu‘s sister is often dressed up and paraded in front of prospective in-laws. The mother drowns in nostalgia for times past, when the family was better off. Ramu‘s girlfriend is also struggling. But, Ramu’s situation is about to change…

Set in 2006, this is a Bollywood adaptation of the 1978 epic film starring Amitabh Bachchan. As the world drug trade spirals out of control, the Malaysian Intelligence and Anti-Narcotic Department are called upon for assistance by their Indian counterparts. The Indian team is headed by DCP D‘Silva who believes that capturing the dangerous and elusive Don is the only way to end the crisis. In the meantime, dissent brews in Don’s ranks as Roma, recent recruit, conspires to kill Don.

Vaaranam Aayiram / A Thousand Elephants *

Krishnan dies due to throat cancer. His son, Major Surya is informed about his demise but chooses to go ahead with his duty and continue his current assignment – the rescue operation of a kidnapped journalist. As he proceeds on his mission, Surya reminisces about his life with his father, his hero, from the time his father met and wooed his mother, Malini, in college. We also see Surya’s life, how as a young man he fell in love with Meghna, a girl he met in a train, wooed and won in San Francisco only to lose her forever in the Oklahoma bombing. Hitting the depths of despair as he descends into the world of drugs and alcohol, he eventually gets his life back on track as he assumes responsibilty, cleans himself up, joins the Indian army and marries Priya, his sister’s friend who has always loved him, all with the support of his family, in particular, his father.
